On the weekend 30 November – 1 December, two environmental groups met at the KOWO creative coworking space in the regional capital Kropyvnytskiy, Ukraine, to plan their civic campaigns. Facilitators from NESEHNUTÍ Barbora Jelínková and Martin Hyťha together with experienced campaigner Mark Fodor helped the two initiatives to develop a strategy to defend the environmental rights of local citizens.

A unique collection offering detailed insight into how pro-Kremlin propaganda and disinformation work in Visegrad countries and the Eastern Europe is available now. It focuses on common as well as specific features of the phenomena of pro-Kremlin propaganda. Moreover, the collection presents also the initiatives and steps that were taken by different actors in the regions to face the propaganda.

Brno will welcome experts on disinformation, hoaxes and pro-Kremlin propaganda from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Ukraine, Moldova and Transnistria. On 23-24 May, the experts will take part in a conference where they will present a collection of texts titled Characteristics of pro-Kremlin propaganda in Central and Eastern Europe and practical examples how to tackle it.

NESEHNUTÍ together with Ecolur had an opportunity to visit Ardvi village located in the north of Armenia. It is currently considered one of the ecological hot spots in Armenia, due to ongoing plans about opening of a new gold-polymetalic mine. Locals gathered in the center of village and shared their concerns regarding this project.

NESEHNUTÍ is launching the 3rd Ukraine-Czech BarCamp which is taking place in the South Ukraine town of Kherson on 12th and 13th of November. It is a meeting point for experienced and starting civic initiatives, independent media representatives and campaign leaders.

Today, civic activists from Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan together with those from Ukraine, Slovakia, Czechia and other countries start to discuss their campaigns at international BarCamp in Kutaisi, Georgia, organized by Czech NGO NESEHNUTI together with Georgian organization Abkhazintercont.

Are you interested in South Caucasus, cooperation with various communities and ethnic minorities and work with young people? You can be part of multicultural group and explore the realities of different minorities during the study visit of South Caucasian cities and regions.

We are looking for a young person at the age between 18-30 who is interested in topics such as human rights, protection of minority rights, environmental protection, independent journalism and the work of NGOs.

NESEHNUTI invites you to a BarCamp devoted to civic engagement, which will take place on 24-26 March 2017 in Kutaisi, Georgia. We will welcome participants from Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia.

In September 2016 we organized together with Sukhum Youth House Summer school of Civic Engagement for 15 young people from Abkhazia.

The project focuses on the development of democracy, civil society and cooperation while reinforcing the protection of human rights in Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan through sharing experiences from transformation processes in Visegrad countries.

We, the undersigned members of the Sport for Rights coalition, express our relief over the release of 15 political prisoners in Azerbaijan. Human rights defender Rasul Jafarov, the founder of the Sport for Rights campaign, stepped out from Baku’s Prison Number 10 into freedom on 17 March after spending 593 days unjustly jailed. The same day, the European Court of Human Rights issued a judgment in Jafarov’s case, acknowledging that his arrest and detention were politically motivated.

Czech NGO NESEHNUTÍ invites you to participate in the civil society support program for South Caucasus.

Today begins a study tour in the Czech Republic for a representatives of NGOs and independent media organizations from the South Caucasus. They came at the invitation of the Independent social ecological movement – NESEHNUTÍ that provides support their public campaigns implemented in the south Caucasus. The aim of their stay in our country is to establish contacts with NGOs, media and experts dealing with the topics that Caucasian NGOs deal at home.

Thirteen people from South Caucasus NGOs came to the Czech Republic today. They came upon invitation of NESEHNUTÍ – The Independent Social Environmental Movement – who provides support to their public campaigns in South Caucasus.

n the second half of April, we organized workshops in Kutaisi and Sukhum. There were discussions with local activists on how to plan public campaigns to achieve success, how to use social networks and modern on-line tools. Georgian workshop contained one-day lesson about social entrepreneurship, abkhazian one about security in on-line communication.

Czech non-governmental organisation NESEHNUTÍ – Independent Social Ecological Movement in cooperation with Abkhazinercont invites the workers and volunteers of Georgian non-governmental, non-commercial organisations and civic or youth initiatives to the three-day BarCamp in Kutaisi.

Czech NGO NESEHNUTÍ will continue to support civil initiatives in South Caucasus and Ukraine in 2015. This will make it possible to continue the journalist campaign for free right to information in Abkhazia, the campaign for monitoring human rights in Nagorno-Kharabakh prisons, the initiative for barrier-free Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, or the initiative for monitoring large companies mining gold by cyanidation in Azerbaijan.

Twenty people demonstrated at the embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Prague in protest of imprisonment of human rights defenders in this country in the Caucasus. They held photos of the Azerbaijani political prisoners, whose overall number exceeds 100. The event called “Non-freedom in Azerbaijan burns us up” was organized by Czech NGO NESEHNUTÍ, which has for many years supported civic initiatives in the South Caucasus via its program The Initiative Way.

Czech NGO NESEHNUTÍ sends an appeal to all Members of European Parliament. The NGO asks them to join the appeal to release political prisoners in Azerbaijan addressed to the President of Azerbaijan.

In two weeks, on 3rd and 4th November, a two-day meeting of regional journalists who are gathered under Hromadske.TV will take place in Kyiv. The participants will evaluate a work of Hromadske.TV on social networks under the leadership of Josef Slerka, an expert and head of Studies of Social Media at Charles University.

Between 20 – 28 July, the activists of NESEHNUTI met the journalists from Kremenchuk and Cherkassy, whose activities NESEHNUTI supports. Both journalistic initiatives belong to a network of civic televisions led by respected public television Hromadske.TV Kyiv. Together with them NESEHNUTI tries to contribute to the development of independent regional news outlets which practically do not exist in some regions of Ukraine.

Music bands MIG 21, Už jsme doma and the legendary Plastic People of the Universe are calling for release of political prisoners in Azerbaijan. All three bands will present this appeal at Trutnov Open Air festival starting today.

NESEHNUTI supported publication of the directory of non-governmental organizations in South Ossetia. Association of Women for Democracy and Protection of Human Rights issued the book, which has more than one hundred pages and was issued in a print of 200 copies. This unique publication describes the activities of charity, media, cultural, social, enterprise, sports, youth, medical, human rights and educational non-governmental organizations and civic initiatives.

Czech organizations NESEHNUTI, DEMAS and People in Need sent today an open letter to the Czech President, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Senate President. President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, will come to Prague in April. We appeal to Czech statesmen for asking him about human rights and political prisoners in Azerbaijan during his visit, and for organizing public press conference with him.

A 10-day study visit of 13 representatives of non-profit organizations and civic initiatives from the South Caucasus to the Central Europe is just under way. The participants came at the invitation of Czech non-profit organization NESEHNUTÍ (Independent Social Ecological Movement), which supports projects and civic initiatives in Abkhazia, Armenia, Georgia and South Ossetia.

The Czech NGO Independent Social Ecological Movement (NESEHNUTÍ) has launched series of supportive workshops for civic activists in various parts of the South Caucasus region. Civic initiatives from Georgia, Armenia, Abkhazia, and South Ossetia, around 100 representatives in total, now have an opportunity to learn how to plan and perform advocacy campaigns, how to use social networks in the campaigns or how to promote human rights and tackle prejudices.

Research-Intellectual Club “Dialogue of Generations” and Kutaisi Youth Parliament held Loesje Action on 2 May, at 13:00, in Kutaisi Central Park. The aim of the event was to attract public attention to big numbers of gambling teenagers in Georgia.

NESEHNUTÍ supports two new initiatives on the south Caucasus. The first one is a Campaign for Extensive Regulation against Gambling in Georgia. The main trouble is that there is almost no limitation of entrance for youth to casinos, gaming clubs and betting shops what leads to the addictions and considerable social problems.

Read more about helpline for teenagers, developing small businesses of rural women, promotion of vegetarianism, or campaign for a freedom of speech, fight against the speed demons and a project about inclusion of children with disabilities among others.

In 2012, educational trainings took place in the cities of Kutaisi and Sukhumi, which provided the local initiatives and independent media with new knowledge and experience in the areas of citizen participation, leading civic campaigns, using new media, other than grant funding of NGOs, as well as social entrepreneurship and security in electronic communication. When carrying out these seminars we shared our experience from the development of the civic sector in the Czech Republic.

The project focuses on the development of democracy, civil society and cooperation while reinforcing human rights protection in Georgia and Armenia through sharing experiences from transformation processes in Visegrad countries. Workshops, small grants, couching and advisory, strategic planning, internships in Visegrad countries and networking by progressive on-line tools are activities for Georgian and Armenian civic initiatives and small NGOs (partly watchdog) being performed in 2013.

Statues in Brno and Independent Social Ecological Movement (NESEHNUTI) expressed their symbolic support of detained members of Russian punk band Pussy Riot.

Approximately 10 cash stipends in the amount of $3,500 each will be awarded to photographers to produce a photo essay on a current human rights or social issue in the region.

In the morning of 6 February, cars with furniture and slogans: “Human rights got evicted” appeared near the entrance of the Belarusian Embassy in the Czech Republic, marking the start of an action in support of human rights defender Ales Bialiatski and the Human Rights Center “Viasna”.

From October 8 to 18, 2011, the study visit was held in Czech Republic in Prague and Brno. The competition and visit was organized by the Czech non-governmental organization (NGO) NESEHNUTI. Six organizations from Georgia (three from Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Batumi and 3 organizations from Abkhazia) took part in the study visit.

Although seventeen years passed from the end of the war on Abkhazian independence, it seems like the fights ended up yesterday. In May, photographer of Czech newspaper Hospodarske noviny Vaclav Vasku went to Abkhazia with NESEHNUTI (Independent Social Ecological Movement).

We have established cooperation with civic initiatives in Transnistria, organized three-day workshop with strategic planning and helped to start up a campaign for free access to information.

Two three-day workshops of transformational cooperation were held in Tbilisi and Sukhum. Czech experts shared their experiences in civic participation, democratic principles, human rights, fundraising, leading civic campaigns, media work and using social networks and new media in campaigns with 50 local representatives of NGOs and independent media.
