We Support Each Other

Popis obrázku

Lentekhi is a picturesque town located in the northwest part of Georgia, in the Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti region. The town is situated in the Tskhenistskali River Valley, surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery. With a population of approximately 4,000 residents, Lentekhi is known for its rich cultural history and traditional way of life. Unfortunately, widespread domestic violence is a serious issue in Lentekhi. Women from a local organization have decided to address this problem.

The "We Support Each Other" campaign focuses on supporting women who have been victims of domestic violence in realizing their own business initiatives. As part of the campaign, a women's club will be established, providing a safe environment for vulnerable women to meet regularly, spend time together, and receive necessary psychosocial care and legal advice. Thanks to the efforts of brave activists, a women's crisis center will be established in Lentekhi to support those who need it the most.

HOW WE HELPED
We conducted a two-day planning session with the members of the organization, where we worked on the campaign's steps in detail. The organization received micro-grant funding. A coalition of local non-governmental organizations was successfully formed to advocate for the need for a safe space for victims of domestic violence to the local government and city council. A series of meetings with the municipal leadership are also planned.
