Minorities in Everyday Realities – study visit to South Caucasian NGOs

Who: 22 active people from Caucasus countries and the Czech Republic

Are you interested in South Caucasus, cooperation with various communities and ethnic minorities and work with young people? You can be part of multicultural group and explore the realities of different minorities during the study visit of South Caucasian cities and regions.  

What is the everyday reality of different ethnic minorities?
How do the Caucasian NGOs cooperate with communities?
How do they involve young people from different ethnic minorities?
How do they face the issues of discrimination, hate speech, hate crime?
What is the situation regarding the human rights?
How do they work on community building, inclusive education and equal opportunities?

We are looking for for:

active people (students, volunteers or other people working in NGOs or other spheres) interested in Caucasus and different fields of work with minorities: protection of human rights, Roma communities, multicultural education, inclusive education, community building, independent media, multiple discrimination,  working with disabled people, socially or economically disadvantaged youngsters etc. and people willing to be involved in direct and  follow-up activities.

During the study visit we are going to:

  • explore the reality of different minorities in the South Caucasus
  • involve active Roma, Czech and Caucasian participants working in various fields of minorities’ issues
  • learn and share the tools and ways of work and cooperation with minorities
  • exchange experience with activism and inspire each other
  • establish new contacts cooperation, develop own ideas and projects

The program:

Participants will visit local Abkhazian NGOs working with human rights, media, youth and social themes. The participants will also learn about everyday “reality”, situations and conditions of different communities in Georgian cities – Roma, Georgian IDP, Armenian, Azerbaijan communities.
One of the aims is to offer the space for own work, new partnerships and future projects.

During the study visit, the participants will work on common or individual projects or campaigns that can be implemented during the event or afterwards. The program includes excursions, discussions, open spaces and also own field work – interviews, media work, research etc.

Financial conditions:

The accommodation, vegetarian food, local transport and entrance fee to Abkhazia will be provided by hosting organization NESEHNUTÍ.
Travel cost will be reimbursed at least from 70% (the travel cost will be reimbursed direct after the study visit).
