With Codes of Conducts against Hate Speech at Universities and in Political Parties

Initiative Group LGBT Georgia

Location: Tbilisi, Georgia

Year: 2016-2017

The group strives that the state universities in Tbilisi, Kutaisi and Batumi adopt a code of conduct that would prevent the spread of hate-speech against minorities during public events. A similar code of conduct should also be adopted by selected political parties, so that they would not spread hate and intolerance among the population.

Within the campaign, the consequences of hate-speech and its roots will be discussed during public meetings with student groups. The group will send an official letter to universities requesting the adoption of the code, closed negotiations will be held with the actors and the significance of codes of conduct will be officially presented. Activities will be accompanied by publicity activities and publishing of thematic articles and blogs.
