The campaign was launched in response to the increasing pressure on civil society and the non-profit sector in Abkhazia related to the discussions over the adoption of a law on financial resources from across the border. The law on so-called "foreign agents" facilitates repression of NGOs receiving support from abroad. Presently, such laws are in force in Russia and have also been adopted in South Ossetia. Thanks to the campaign, the interest of journalists in the work of NGOs has increased, as has the number of publications focused on the importance of the non-profit sector in society. In addition, the campaign strengthened the skills of NGOs in reaching out to the general public and their target groups through better communication and work with journalists.
