This organization has functioned as a watchdog of the infrastructure and transport projects in the northern part of Georgia in a popular tourist region.

As part of its current campaign, the organization seeks to prevent the poorly-conceived construction of a four-lane highway in the Kazbegi Region where several protected areas, natural and cultural heritage sites may be seriously disrupted by the development.

Mountain Development Center has managed to get the ministry responsible for the construction to suspend its implementation, to launch a new tender, and to consistently assess the impact of the construction on the environment.
