Organization: Harmony initiative group
Location: South Ossetia
Year: 2013
The campaign focuses on the poor condition of the cultural monuments in the territory of South Ossetia and the lack of protection by the local administration.
On a model case of the Red Church from the 19th century, built on the ancient temple and listed in 1952 on the list of UNESCO cultural monuments, the initiative group is trying to demonstrate the consequences of unsatisfactory access of the local administration regarding the protection of similar sites. The campaign has two main objectives: the first aim is to create conditions for the restoration and renovation of the Red Church as one of the most important cultural monuments in South Ossetia.
The second aim is to exert pressure to change legislation that would strengthen the systemic conservation of the sites in the country.
