International campaign “16 days of activism against violence against women” exists since 1991 and more than five thousand organizations worldwide has participated in it. One of them is the Association Avangard, which seeks to draw attention to violence against women and girls in eastern Abkhazia and suppress it.

Several events were organised in Abkhazia within this campaign: on the International Day against Violence against Women in the town of Gal/i was held informative  event for youth on the topic of domestic violence and the Avangard presentation about domestic violence in eastern Abkhazia. An exhibition of art works on the theme “From peace at home to peace on Earth” was held and film with a discussion followed. Several other events took place in the villages and Tsuburkhindzhi and Tskhiri.
